Theory of Relativity...

MLM will never give you what you want, it will only give you
what you deserve.

Like any business in the world today, MLM is also not easy
to do and I like it this way.

Let me explain...

Have'nt you experienced all sorts of problems all your life?

Problems at work - Problems at home - Problems in school -
Health Problems, Money Problems, Boy-Girl Problems etc.

Not matter how BAD the problem was, if it did'nt "kill" you,
it probably make you stronger and wiser.

Agree?

There is no point reading on if you disagree, think about
what I have just said.

Most types of problems remain the same, and when you look
back at those problems, chances are you probably have a good
laugh over it.

What actually happened?

You have become greater than the problem.

The problem did not become easier, you became better. You
have advanced to the next stage!

Jim Rohn, America's foremost Business Philosopher had this
to say about Problems, " Don't wish it were easier, wish you
were better."

When you are new to MLM or even if you are a veteran, you
are guaranteed to face with all the industry-related
problems. All might seem daunting in the begining and they
are, but over time with good training and equipping, the
problems will become smaller and smaller.

But first...

What are top 10 industry related-problems?

1. Fear of Rejection
2. Lack of Confidence
3. Lack of Emotional Intelligence, EQ
4. Weak Communicational Skills
5. Inconsistency
6. Bad steward of Money
7. Doubts
8. Laziness
9. Cynicism
10. Disappointments

Wow! Dun they looked more like common problems that everyone
face?

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
"The number one reason I recommend a network marketing
business is for its system of education." - Robert Kiyosaki,
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

No wonder Robert specifically made the above statement.

Take a look at the list of real life business subjects...

1. Attitude of Success
2. Leadership Skills
3. Communication Skills
4. People Skills
5. Overcoming personal fear, doubts, and lack of confidence
6. Overcoming fear of rejection
7. Money Management Skills
8. Investing Skills
9. Accountability Skills
10. Time Management Skills
11. Goal Setting
12. Systemization

Make it a point to find out how you would be trained and
supported in your MLM company.

Does your upline support group's or your company's training
cover at least 3/4 of those 12 subjects that were mentioned?

Developing YOU should come before the products, the company,
the compensation plan and the rest of the nitty-gritties.

Remember the problems will always be the same, you can
become better than the problems if you are properly trained.

BUT, a training system can only do so much, because if you
do not have a REGUALR plan to continuously develop YOU, soon
the training that you have recieved will go to waste and all
the problems will come back again.

The other way to accelerate the wastage is when YOU do not
take ACTION after you have been trained.

One of the BIGGEST mistakes new network marketers make is
they think they HAVE to know EVERYTHING about their product
or opportunity before they can work the business.

That mindset creates inactivity.

Once you make a decision to work a network marketing
opportunity you should focus 80% of your time on action, 20%
on learning.

This is an ACTION BUSINESS.

Learn the basics, use the tools, use the systems, plug into
your upline and then...

ACTION! - Make that first phone call, do that first
presentation, attend the first social function etc.

Prospects Not Enough

Beside not making money, the Number Two reason why most
MLMers give up is because they have no one else to talk to
about their MLM business.

When they first join Network Marketing, most people are
taught to make a list of 200 of their closest friends and
relatives. They are taught that these are the first people
that they should talk to about the business. And they are
further taught to perpetuate this process.

These techniques may have worked really well back in the
50's till the 80's but not so in this Information Age.

Look, there is nothing wrong with calling your closest
friends and relatives to join you in your MLM business or
become your consumers.

But if you are just counting on them alone and no one else,
then I would say you are committing a slow sucide.

I think in Singapore, most of our friends and relatives
have ALREADY been approached numerous times by other well
intentioned friends and relatives. The last thing your
friend wants is for you to pitch them on another money
making opportunity.

Too many networkers today are still calling and hounding
their friends and relatives to join their programme. But are
they qualified?

SO WHAT ARE YOU TO DO?

Refer to the name of this business, Network Marketing.

To excel in MLM, you need to learn how to Network and do
Marketing.

Through these 2 activities alone, you should have a constant
supply of fresh MLM specific leads/prospects.
Leads/prospects are anyone who has indicated an interest in
your business.

Overlooking this critical factor will kill your business.

Networking events are great places to find prospects.

At each one I attend, my goal is to meet at least 10 new
people. Within 24 hours of the event, I send each new
contact a follow-up e-mail, a note, or a postcard saying how
much I enjoyed our chat and reminding them in a short,
simple sentence or two what I do. I might also ask if they
can refer me to anyone whom I also could also help.

Of those 10, usually just one or two will agree to in-person
meetings.

If you are already a MLMer, you will know that when your
distributors have lots of prospects -- they're happy.

When your distributors don't have prospects - the products
become too expensive, the economy starts to turn bad, their
sponsor doesn't help them enough, the company needs to
change their brochures...well you know that's how the
excuses go.

So, if you and your distributors are not receiving a
constant supply of new leads every month and aggressively
contacting and following through, all of you have zero
chance to make it in MLM.

It's that simple.

The Entrepreneurial Myth in MLM

The E-Myth is written by Michael Gerber. This book comes
highly recommended by Robert Kiyosaki. It will tell you why
most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About it.

Read it if you have the time, if not, all you need to do is
to read on. I will tell you how just one piece of
information alone in this book has helped me in my MLM
business. On hindsight, it actually helps me to understand
most businesses.

I have learnt this...

Save-Your-Self-Time-Money-Energy.

Did you see S.Y.S.T.E.M?

Anyone who tries to run a business, any business whether if
it is MLM or not, without a system will run himself to the
ground.

Ask any successful business owner. They will tell you that a
good idea or product alone does not constitute a good
Business.

Any MLM business without a system ends up in chaos -
unmanageable, unpredictable, and unrewarding.

The product, the compensation plan and the company are
important for your consideration but aren't nearly as
important as the SYSTEM you are using to build a business
with the company.

Any restaurant will always have a better burger. But why
does McDonald's sell more burger than most restaurants
combined?

IT'S ALL IN THEIR SYSTEM!

This same principle can be applied to almost any business in
any industry. The person with a superior system, will always
make more money than the person with a superior product, but
a weaker system.

So before you join any MLM company you should always make
sure you join with an upline group that has all the systems
in place.

Joining an upline group with a System can help you keep more
people in your downline than dropping out because now these
people have a system they can plug into immediately.

They can break even faster, make a profit faster, thus
motivating them to stay in your group longer.

And your cash flow will steadily rise!

Almost 90% of the people in MLM today are part-timers. And
most are probably too busy these days to create a System on
their own.

It make sense to simply plug into a system and make sure
that everyone you sponsor does the same.

An exceptional System take care of the following
processes...

Process 1. Marketing - Generate many Prospects.
Process 2. Prospecting - Qualify the Prospects.
Process 3. Follow-Up - Educate the Prospects.
Process 4. Closing - Convert the Prospects to Distributors.
Process 5. Training - Equip the Distributors.

The success of your MLM business is about following the
above processes and repeating them on an on-going basis.

The primary purpose of the System is to help you get the
business to work, but without you eventually.

You can own your MLM business, and still be free of it. You
can spend time doing the work you love to do rather than the
work you have to do.

The Greatest Value of MLM

In time to come, your Networks will determine your Networth.

In the world of business, and MLM is a business, it's not
WHAT you know that matters, it's really about WHO you know
and WHO knows you.

People would rather do business with people whom they know
or were referred to them by trusted
friends/relatives/contacts.

And since it is almost impossible for us to know everyone,
it make sense to Leverage on the networks of other people,
and MLM allows you to do just that!

Ultimately, I know that the Greatest Value in building an
organisation of Network Marketers is really in the Networks
itself.

////////////////////////////////////////////////
The richest people in the world look for and build networks,
everyone else looks for work - Robert Kiyosaki, The Business
School for People who like Helping People.
////////////////////////////////////////////////

You see, the reason most parents want their children to
attend the RI or the RGS, and our government like to pay
more than US$100,000 a year to have our Top Scholars to
attend the Harvard Business School or the Stanford Business
School is not to show-off to the world.

Rather, it is to help them build a network of hot shots that
they can go to when in need since only the best amongst the
world go the Harvard or the Stanford: the classmates who are
one year ahead of them, in their own year, and a year behind
and the alumni basically.

Not many people get into these great institutions. Those
who do have life easier, later.

They are building up a network of friends who can, in a
crisis, help them.

Let's take a look at the Rotary Club or any club for that
matter...

The Rotary Club was begun by one man who thought he could
build up his business by putting together a civic
association of businessmen, who would then probably buy from
each other. He had no plan to create the what became the
most effective American civic organization ever invented,
which is all over the world.

If you are not already in any MLM, consider this about your
career then...

Not everyone has the stomach to start a Business, but anyone
can increase his circle of contacts. If you look ahead at
the potential of being fired, or being asked to move, or
some other bump in your career path, you should begin to
make exit plans.

Every major plan in life deserves an exit strategy and this
includes your career.

The time you will want to start building the network is when
the economy has fallen flat like now. It will only get worse
before it gets better.

You see, your MLM company can come and go, but your networks
will always be there.

In summary, do not spend too much time boasting about your
MLM company or your products, spend more time strengthening
your networks by doing the following...

1. start Building Relationship with your friends, prospects,
downlines, uplines, and even your competition.
2. start Adding Value by sharing resources with your
competition and sidelines, help and support your uplines,
teach and empower your downlines.
3. Educate your friends and your prospects about MLM,
business and personal development, do not just sell them or
simply want them to join you.

How to Evaluate a MLM Compensation Plan?

Forget about the great product testimonies, the wonderful
story of how someone make it from rag to riches in their MLM
company, the hyper growth of the company and the rest of the
many other distractions that are sold to you during any of
those Network Marketing Business Opportunity Talks.

In evaluating any MLM business, do this...

If you love their story, then the next wise thing to do is
to check out the numbers, the cash flow.

This principle is good because a story, by its very nature,
is meant to dramatize, not to inform. Professional Network
Marketer know the value of a good story.

But again, if the story is good, check out the numbers.

If MLM is a business, the first thing that one should focus
on is the "cash flow" that you can generate from
distributing their products because all of us know that
there is not one single MLM company in the world today that
will tell you that their products and their company are not
the Best.

Zoom in on the compensation plan. You need to look for...

1. a FAIR compensation plan.
2. a STABLE compensation plan.
3. a SEAMLESS compensation plan.

////////////////////////////////////
A FAIR Compensation Plan
////////////////////////////////////
The MAIN reason why 95% of the people don't make money in
MLM is because most compensation plans aren't created for
"average people".

When I say "average people" I mean the person who usually
doesn't recruit heavy enough to fill the lower matrix of a
compensation plan to start earning the big money and those
"infinity" bonuses. These "average people" are usually the
part-timers.

Most part-time MLMers never get into profit much less
break-even! So ultimately, they drop out because it's too
difficult to make a profit. And it's Never because the
products are lousy!

A fair compensation plan is one that rewards the heavy
recruiter with bonuses and such and also helps the
part-timer, the "Average" person break even fast and get
into profit or positive cash flow quickly.

If a part-time MLMer make a Profit of $300 each month just
after 3-6 months, believe me, they will stay.

And you, the sponsor, your commission will steadily rise
too! Since most of your distributors will start off as
part-timers.

////////////////////////////////////
A STABLE Compensation Plan
////////////////////////////////////
I have gone through the painful process as a result of the
MLM company changing their compensation plan.

It is like your boss giving you a pay-cut, or the government
increasing your taxes.

Before joining the company, you need to know whether if the
company has a history changing their compensation plan.

It is also a sign that the company is in financial trouble.

////////////////////////////////////
A SEAMLESS Compensation Plan
////////////////////////////////////
There are so many MLM companies today in the world but only
a few good ones. Most MLM company like to tell you that the
are an international company but they can't even reward you
intentionally.

A seamless compensation plan simply means that the company
is able to reward and pay you internationally, not just in
some countries.

Personally, I think this is extremely important since
Singapore is such a small country and to make big money, one
needs to think international.

I know of a MLM company that have different compensation
schemes all across the world.

Be aware of the risks when you are involve with such
companies.

Start thinking like a true Global Business person today!

Fast Money in MLM...Secrets

Do you want to know under what circumstances can a
Distributor make Fast Money in MLM?

I think I know. Please write to me if you beg to differ.

So often I come across people within the industry who like
to brag about how so and so make $20,000 per month within 6
months, drives a BMW after 12 months or pay off their
$30,000 credit card debt in 9 months etc.

From my personal experience and observation, there are only
3 groups of people who can do that...make fast money in MLM.

/////////////////////////////////////
Group 1: The Front-Loaders
/////////////////////////////////////
The people in this group practise what the industry called
heavy front-end loading. To become a "Business Builder"
in this company, you are required to buy up at least a few
thousand dollars worth of goods in order to qualify for the
higher over-riding commission. These are typically in the
range of between $1,000 to $20,000 worth of products.

The usual pitch goes like this, "What is $5,000 or $10,000
compare to $100,000 that you need to fork out for a
Franchise?"

OR

"In this wholesale business, the more you buy, the more
discount you get!"

The whole dynamics of a person changes when he/she parts
with his/her say $5,000 in exchange for the products. He/She
is now "motivated" to go out there and get as many people as
they can to part with the same amount of money if not more
in exchange for their excellent range of products.

Unfortunately, not everyone of these highly motivated
individuals are able to recoup their initial "investment"
and 2 things can happen.

One, the postive ones, those who have been "well" trained
will start to attribute their so-called failure to the usual
statistics of 9 out of 10 businesses fail in the first
year.

This mindset to me is the greatest deception in the
industry.

OR

Two, they will start to bad-mouth the industry and swear
never ever to be involved in MLM ever again!

Again, this to me is such a shame and I feel bad whenever I
hear these same stories.

But for those who does make it, over time, it's not hard to
figure out how these people can get paid $10,000-$40,000 for
a particular month after maybe 6-12 months worth of effort.

All you need is just 1, I repeat just one successful
distributor and the future crowds/prospects will be moved
and the cycles go on and on.

/////////////////////////////////////
Group 2: The Star Salesman
/////////////////////////////////////
They are usually called the heavy-hitters. They are
full-timers. They're the high-powered people with a
successful real estate, insurance or other sales background;
experienced entrepreneurs who've already built a number of
prosperous companies before.

These are the self-starting, go-getters. You can send them
naked to any MLM company and months later they'd drive out
in a company qualified Mercedes with a network of 1,000-plus
distributors and a six-figure monthly cheque.

And unless you're one of them - a sales super star right out
of the box- it's probably not going to work for you.

/////////////////////////////////////
Group 3: The Veterans
/////////////////////////////////////
Veterans have been in the industry for many many years, from
my personal understanding, minimum 10 years, they are have
been in and out of at least a dozen MLM companies.

These people believe the most and the longest in Network
Marketing, they also believe that as long as you do not give
up, nobody can ever fail in MLM.

It's obviously understandable that within a short span of 6
months to a year after joining a new MLM company, they can
build up a sizeable organisation and thus the huge monthly
cheques!

Their network and their leaders have been established
throughout the years, moving around is easy for them, they
will make money no matter where they go.

These are usually very driven individual, and often are
great leaders. They have over the years overcome the
setbacks of attrition, the ridicule of their friends and
loved ones, the disappointment of prospect not showing up,
the radical change in their company's compensation plan,
their company going bankrupt or getting sold, the challenges
of new and emerging competitions.

I can go on and on. They have basically gone through the
pits of the pits.

But there is this inner fire that is burning within them,
urging them to continuously hold on to their Dreams and
their Beliefs. They will relentless seek out new and better
ways of improving themselves and developing themselves.

More often than not, they are have also acquired great human
skills. They know how to connect with people; naturally,
honestly, effortlessly. They know how to build
Relationships; and develop their organization through
Leadership.

They know that in Network Marketing, the greatest inventory
is the people.

/////////////////////////////////////
Conclusion and Learning
/////////////////////////////////////
I am not here to tell you what is right and what is wrong. I
just want you to see things in the right context.

You have to decide for yourself which group do you want to
be in. The causalty rates in Group 1 are not pretty and is
the very reason that gives the MLM industry a bad name.

And if you are not a Super Star Salesman, you would still
need to take the time to train yourself to become one.

But for the most of us out there, ordinary people armed with
no special talents, nothing but just strong desires to
succeed and a teachable spirit to learn, strive to be a
Veteran.

How to Evaluate a Network Marketing Product?

Everyone says they have...the Best Product, the Best
R&D...Who should you believe?...

The truth is there is not one single MLM company in the
world today that will tell you that their products are not
the best. I have yet to meet someone who has quit their MLM
company because they were disappointed with the products.

Don't get me wrong, all legitimate MLM opportunities have a
real, solid product. If they don't -- watch out!

If you're looking to generate long-term residual income,
consumable products or repeated services(e.g. Mobile Phone
Subscription) is a MUST.

This is why there are so many network marketing companies
selling cosmetics, skin and hair care, household cleaners,
nutritional supplements and other consumable product lines.

These are products that people use up and buy over and over
again.

Just take a look at what M1, Singtel and Starhub are doing
and we can learn from their business model. They will
give you the phones at lower rates in return, you are sign
up a 2 years subscription contract. They are counting on
people like us to pay them a monthly fee.

The result: Strong Cash Flow for these companies!

This often means repeated sales and increased profits.

Many companies like you to believe that their MLM products
are so wonderful that once anyone start using them, they
would stay on forever. This is probably true only for a very
small number of people who have life-changing experiences on
the products.

Have you heard people tell you that some products are so
good or so unique they will sell themselves? I think you
ought to be very skeptical of such comments.

From my years of experience, they never did.

Think about this...

Why would a MLM company need Distributors if their products
can really sell by itself?

I would assume that you are reading this because you are
interested in building a Network Marketing business to
create for yourself another source of income.

While it's important to sell excellent products but if you
want to stay in the Business of Network Marketing, products
Alone do NOT drive the business.

Profits do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Passionate about your MLM Products?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's dangerous to get too attached to a product.

Anyone too pre-occupied by products should become a
Consumer, not a Distributor.

It's okay to be passionate about your products, but if the
demand is waning, don't hesitate to switch to something
which is in demand.

A product that is 'hot' today might not be tomorrow, and if
you're going to cling on to that product just because you're
very passionate about it could well be fatal
attraction!

Products are important, in the sense that you don't want to
have inferior goods, but learning how to market the
products is even more important.

How to Evaluate a Network Marketing Company?

So many people have a belief that you need to be on the
groundfloor of a MLM or you won't make any money.

The truth is...

There are lots of companies that come and go in this
industry. Many are hyped up to be more than what they
actually are.

Don't get me wrong. Network Marketing is a GREAT industry. I
LOVE network marketing. But I have learned in my years in
this business that you HAVE to deal with the REALITY of the
market place.

Because there is ONE thing that you can count on, Network
Marketing companies do go out of business!

This is a FACT of life with this industry.

No new companies and that include MLM companies, start out
with its best foot forward. It takes years to develop
competent,
experienced staff and reliable procedures and services.

When things do go bad...

There will be no official notice from the company that says
"things are not looking all that well." Everybody hangs on
until
it is too late and then it's all over.

Personally, I have seen diligent networkers put in months
and years of hard work, creating the kind of income most
people dream about, disappear virtually overnight, because
the company didn't get its act together.

BUT, if you have picked a network marketing company AFTER
everyone knows it's a winner, you would have also missed the
momentum phase of the MLM company's growth.

The best time to join a network marketing company is really
after they have demonstrated their commitment and ability to
stay in business, to grow ethically, and to honor their
distributors and customers.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when choosing a MLM
company is to just simply choose a MLM company.

You see, the MLM company you choose doesn't really determine
your success or failure.

Neither does the MLM product.

If you are currently promoting an MLM company, I bet you
choose it because you liked the products and the company.

These things are important, but aren't as important as the
many other things that we would be looking into over the
next few issues of our MLM Intelligence E-zine such as the
Business System, the Compensation Plan and the Upline
Support.

So if you have joined the company that you are with now
because you loved their products, well, I am afraid to tell
you that you joined for the wrong reason.

Sorry but it's the truth and often it take many months of
hard work before a new distributor can begin to even
understand what I am trying to say here.

Rejection turns into Confirmation

How did I know if MLM is really for me?

Is it worth spending my evenings after work and my weekends
convincing a bunch of skeptical people about the goodness of
MLM? Or debating with them whether your products are the
best!

Instead of spending time with your family, you are cooked up
in your study room pounding on the phone and calling,
inviting people to your Business Opportunity Meeting,
following-up with your indifferent prospect. And you wonder
if should you press on or give up?

Sounds familiar? ;)

Let me tell you my story...

Some years back, I was rejected for a Regional Sales
position with an European MNC. The reason according to the
executive search company, they do not usually provide one,
was because I am not aggressive enough. I am not of salesman
material.

They needed someone who can bring in the numbers, in other
words, a Selling Machine!

As you know, right after school, I started out as a life
insurance salesman. Even when I was in school, I was already
peddling T-shirts during the school holidays, selling
candies in ChinaTown during Chinese New Year Season.

I always thought that sales was in my blood. I am always
talking to people, building rapport with them and finally
closing the sale.

I cannot believe they rejected me! I was jumping mad!

But how did they know? You must be wondering.

They made me take a Psychometric Test. It is a set of about
30 questions, no right or wrong answers, just your honest
and frank opinion on certain issues. They studied my scores
and concluded that I am more suitable to be a Teacher or a
Coach than a salesman.

According to the results, it said that I am not driven by
money, I care more about people than I do about money.

It is still true. ;)

Bottomline, I can sell but I have the potential to be more
than just a salesman and they were only looking for a
salesman.

In short, a Psychometric Test can help you learn more about
yourself - for example, about your personality, emotional
intelligence, creativity, leadership style, selling skills,
team role preferences, relationship skills, ability to
handle stress and mental toughness in business and at work.

It turns out that this Rejection is really a Confirmation of
my belief and conviction in the Network Marketing industry
or better known as the Business School, For People Who Like
Helping People!

Network Marketing is fun for me because I focus on the
people, and not on the products or just the money. The money
or profit is critical to any business but if you start
teaching and leading the people FIRST, the money will
follow.

The truth is, some people need more than just money, they
need to CHANGE first, a complete makeover and guess what,
they need people like us to HELP them make that change.

///////////////////////////////////////////
I recommend some network marketing businesses because they
truly do focus on building or rebuilding in some cases, the
person, and then the person can go on to build their own
business.

The Best Compensation Plan

I am not kidding you, there is really such a thing, the Best
Compensation Plan.

The best means the compensation plan that pays the best
money.

You can dispute with me but you cannot dispute with Mark
Rawlins.

Mark is an industry consultant and software provider for
over twenty years to MLM companies.

He wrote a book called, Understanding Multi-Level
Commissions and their roles in a successful company.

One of the most important yet least understood aspects of a
network marketing opportunity is the compensation plan.

Believe it or not, sad to say, the majority of distributors
involved in network marketing could not give you a
superficial, let alone intelligent, in-depth explanation of
the various compensation plans being utilized in the network
marketing industry.

WARNING:
Mark's knowledge is very comprehensive.

This book will unmasks the commission plan and explains the
underlying concepts that make every plan work.

The book is a useful resource for anyone in the direct sales
industry - from distributors, to corporate executives, to
someone thinking of starting a new MLM company.

The Business School 2nd Edition by Robert Kiyosaki is

I just got mine today, Robert expands further on his last 8

Before this book, I thought I know quite a fair bit on
Compensation Plans but after reading it, I was humbled.

On normal occassions, I would not be bothered to read these
books but one of my previous companies changed their
compensation plan on us.

The damage was not severe but it prompted me to really dig
in on Compensation Plans.

==CONCLUSION==
Relative to the age of this industry, Unilevel plans have
very little history.

Of the 180 most prominent MLM companies in the world...

62% of them are some form of Breakaway
18% are Unilevel
12% are Matrix plans
and 6% are Binary

If you look around the MLM industry today, the only
companies that have ever crossed the US Billion Dollars mark
in Sales use...you guess it...Breakaway Plan.
